MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -

Minneapolis police say two officers who were shot after a traffic stop are in stable condition.

Police gave the news via the department Twitter account Friday afternoon about an hour after the incident on the city's south side.

Spokeswoman Cyndi Barrington told The Associated Press that a suspect was also shot. She didn't know his condition or age.

Barrington says the officers stopped the vehicle about 3:30 p.m. and the suspect fled and broke into a house. The homeowner called police, and a shootout ensued.

Minneapolis police also say a squad car on its way to the police shooting collided with a motorcycle, killing one person on the motorcycle and injuring another.

The crash happened Friday afternoon as officers swarmed the neighborhood where the two officers were shot.

Police confirm in a Tweet that two people were on the motorcycle. One was killed and the other is being treated at Hennepin County Medical Center.
