Highway 16 Crash
WEST SALEM, Wis. -

Three people are transported to the hospital with injuries after a two car crash in La Crosse County.

It happened around 1p.m. Sunday on Highway 16, between West Salem and Bangor.

The crash closed traffic between County Highway DE & Highway 162 for several hours while a crash reconstruction team investigated.

The victims were transported to Gundersen Lutheran Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

"It appears we had an east-bound vehicle that crossed over the center line, struck a guardrail on the north side of the roadway, proceeded back into the roadway and struck head-on a west-bound vehicle," said Sgt. Bill Lubinski, with the La Crosse County Sheriff's Department.

Investigators with the Wisconsin State Patrol are leading the investigation.
