GALESVILLE, WI -

Three cases of pertussis (whooping cough) have been confirmed and reported within the Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau School District.

School district administrators say two cases have been confirmed at the high school and one has been confirmed at the middle school.

“Your child may have been exposed,” the school district’s website noted.

The Trempealeau County Health Department says the disease is spread by air through direct face-to-face contact with the person who has whooping cough.

If your child develops cold symptoms that includes a cough, the health department recommends talking to your child’s doctor.
