A former Logan High School student killed while serving in Afghanistan is honored with a memorial at the school.
An engraved stone honors the memory of Cpl. Alex Martinez who was killed by a roadside bomb in April. The stone was dedicated during a Veterans Day ceremony today.
It was purchased after students who didn't know Martinez personally heard about his death and wanted to do something to honor him. They raised money by taking donations from other students.
"We felt that once a Logan Ranger, always a Logan Ranger and we thought that it would be respectful for Brandon [Martinez's brother who is a senior at Logan] and his family to help them get some closure and help them feel that people still care and still think of Alex as a Logan Ranger,” said Logan High School Junior Miranda Moore.
A tree was also dedicated at the site.
