Some Holmen High school students are trying to become Iron Chefs.
The students had 90 minutes to create a meal following specific guidelines. That included meeting specific nutritional requirements and using at least two "harvest of the month" foods.
Those are fruits or vegetables promoted in the schools and our community. Six recipes were chosen for the competition as students worked to earn the title of Iron Chef Holmen.
"I'm making some Salisbury steak meatballs with some mashed potatoes and honey glazed ginger," said Paxton Pregel, Iron Chef participant. "It used to be my great grandmothers by my revamped it over the years and made it a little bit better."
Emily Armstrong was crowned Iron Chef and takes home a $500 cash prize. Her dish will also be served for lunch throughout the school district.
