The La Crosse County Medical Examiner John Steers said the blood alcohol content (BAC) of the 54-year-old man who died Tuesday morning was .390. That's almost five times the legal limit for alcohol consumption.
Steers said the man's cause of death appears to be hypothermia and alcohol.
La Crosse police say a 54-year-old homeless man was found dead near the 1100 block of Main Street in downtown La Crosse Tuesday morning.
Investigators say initial reports show the cause of death appears to be hypothermia and alcohol. Police would not release his blood alcohol level until it is confirmed by the medical examiner's office.
Police say they received a call from a resident in the area around 7:30 a.m. When officers arrived on scene, they found the man on the ground. Police have not released the name of the man, pending notification of family.
