In the crowd of hundreds of thousands of people were several La Crosse area residents.
Cheryl Hancock and her friends made the trip to Washington, D.C. to see the speech.
Hancock says it was a festive atmosphere in D. C. and called the speech inspirational. She says even though this was his second inauguration it was still a special day, especially considering the people she was with.
"I was able to go with my daughter and my son and her daughter and it was just very meaningful to have those young women with us 'cause they are our future. You know, yesterday I went to the Martin Luther King memorial and just that anything is possible in America.," Hancock said with excitement.
Hancock also traveled to Washington, D.C. in 2009 to see the President's first inaugural.
