Some Minnesota cities will turn off the lights Saturday for "Earth Hour."
The City of Minneapolis will turn off all non-essential electricity in major municipal buildings from 8:30 to 9:30 p.m.
In Eden Prairie, the city's most recognized landmark -- the Market Center Water Tower -- will go dark for Earth Hour.
Earth Hour began in 2007 in Sydney, Australia, and has spread across the globe. Residents, governments and businesses are encouraged to switch off their lights and non-essential electricity to show concern about climate change.
The City of Minneapolis has observed Earth Hour since 2008.
