Onalaska Police Chief Jeff Trotnic delivered hot chocolate to crossing guards as a part of Adult Crossing Guard Appreciation Week.
Ten crossing guards that cover five designated crossings are employed by the City of Onalaska.
"I like to get out and visit with each of the Crossing Guards," Chief Trotnic said. "It's good to let them know that they have an important job and to show our appreciation."
One of the stops was just outside of the middle school where Sue Kenyon has been the guard for a year and a half. She says she likes the job for one major reason.
"The kids. I really enjoy the kids," Kenyon said. "Most of them say thank you to me almost every morning and every afternoon, so that really makes it a lot, I mean, worth it."
Adult Crossing Guard Appreciation Week runs January 14 – 18.
