ONALASKA, Wis. -- Around 50 people gathered at Onalaska city hall Thursday night to talk about the upcoming Great River Cultural and Tourism Center. Residents had a chance to weigh in on the planned facility.
Three designs were shown for the center which is part of the Waterfront Redevelopment Project along highway 35.
The Interim City Planner says they want to work to accommodate all the requests, but can't because of certain restrictions. "We're sort of bound right now by a limited budget, and so we have a number of criteria we have to meet in the budget, to act as a trailhead, to provide tourism offices, and to be a facility for the great river road, and we're meeting those obligations," says Interim Planner Deena Murphy.
The next step is for the committee to compile Thursday night's comments and develop a plan with the architects.
