Prom is one of the many highlights for seniors in high school. Saturday, senior citizens had the chance to relive the moment.

As part of a semester-long class project, some Viterbo University students wanted to show their support for the local community by hosting a prom at St. Joseph Care Center in La Crosse.

Residents enjoyed getting professional pictures taken as well as some dancing, music and food.

The students said the event was a great way to give back to some very special residents.

"This just gives this side of the building something really special to look forward to, and it brings family members in," said Britny Ferris, a sophomore at Viterbo. "So they get time with their families and it's just really special for them, that people are recognizing them and that they are here, and it just brings the community together and even closer."

Local businesses also helped with the event by donating the flower, the photography and the entertainment.

Residents also participated in the crowning of the traditional king and queen of the prom.
