Three people are recognized for their outstanding work improving the quality of life for people around the world.

The second annual Citizen Diplomacy Awards were presented Tuesday night.

The World Services of La Crosse honors people in the community who promote positive international sentiment toward our nation, and advancing world peace.

The award recipients are Cheri Olson from Mayo Clinic Health System and Pete Keeffe, a long time volunteer with La Crosse's sister city in Russia.

New this year, a student was honored for his work being a global citizen. "I'm really honored, and I've worked really hard so it's good to know that people appreciate it, so I think to spread awareness of the importance of being a global citizen," said Logan High School senior Landon Kramer.

Landon was recognized for his ability to speak french and his participation in UW-La Crosse's student exchange program.
