LA CROSSE, Wis. -

The Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater La Crosse is moving forward with an expansion project thanks to a sizable donation.

The organization received a little more than $36,000.

The money is proceeds from this year's Tri-Quest event. 135 athletes raised money by biking, running, and golfing 18 holes.

The donation will go towards planning for the expansion of the teen center at the Erickson Club on La Crosse's north side.

They say more teens are using the teen center and it's getting kind of crowded. "I hope its going to end up being a real impact project, and you always need that first gift to get you started and this represents that first significant gift," said Boys and Girls Club Executive Director Mike Desmond.

This was the 18th annual Tri-Quest which has raised more than $900,000 for the Boys and Girls Club, the Children's Museum of La Crosse and the Family and Children's Center.
