MILWAUKEE (AP) -

A Wisconsin woman who donated a kidney to a stranger has made a film about her experience to encourage others to donate as well.

Thirty-three-year-old Natasha Coe told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel that she decided to donate after her ex-boyfriend's uncle died after suffering kidney failure.

She posted her offer on Facebook, and a former high school classmate got in touch. Her classmate told her that her stepmother needed a kidney.

Coe says she brought a film crew to her surgery because she wanted to raise awareness, especially among minorities. Coe is biracial.

The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports 29 percent of the people currently waiting for an organ donation are African-Americans.

The documentary "Does Anybody Need a Kidney?" will be shown at an April 20 wellness fair Milwaukee.
