Local high school students spent their day volunteering in the community.
Students from Aquinas' IMPACT program helped at the Kane Street Community Garden, distributing vegetables to people in need.
IMPACT is a student-led volunteer program that helps out all over the community.
15 students helped Tuesday, but there are more than 100 in the program that volunteer at place like the Boys and Girls Club, assisted living facilities and Meals on Wheels. "They are learning about the importance of being good citizens, living their faith and very specifically helping people in need of food in the community. It's a really rewarding experience to volunteer in the community and spread Christ's love," said faculty advisor Mark Koehne.
IMPACT was started by six Aquinas students back in 1994.
