While Halloween comes with its share of scary costumes and events, one local organization is giving kids an opportunity to celebrate in a way that's not so scary.
The Children's Museum of La Crosse hosted it's "BOO-Seum" this weekend.
It's an event for the whole family.
Kids and parents come out in costume to play their way through the museum and earn yummy treats or prizes.
Organizers say it's all about strengthening families.
"We value family time and again holidays a lot of times family members come in from out of town and they can come to a safe environment too and the kids can wander and play and discover and everyone can enjoy a good time for the holiday," said Children's Museum Project Director Christina Knudsen.
Organizers say they used to only hold the event one day on the weekend, but now it's a two-day event.
They say with an ever-increasing number of family-oriented Halloween activities in the area, they wanted to make sure families had more than one opportunity to come.
