It may seem hard to believe, but the flu season is just around the corner. For many, that means it's time to get a flu vaccine.
Beginning Monday, all Gundersen Health System locations across the area will be offering the flu vaccine.
The Gundersen Flu Shot Clinic will be open through November 27th on the fourth floor of the Gundersen La Crosse Clinic and on the first Floor of the Gundersen Onalaska Clinic.
Doctor's say it's important to recognize the difference between flu symptoms and symptoms related to other viruses.
"Often times, people get what people call the stomach flu. And they get things like nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and those can be caused by many different viruses, many different bacteria, and they are actually not very common with influenza. Influenza is a respiratory infection that has symptoms such as the fever, headache, cough, runny nose, body aches," said La Crosse Co. Public Health Nurse Laura Oheron.
The Centers for Disease Control recommends that everyone 6 months and older get the flu vaccine as soon as it is available.
