DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) -

The Iowa Supreme Court is ruling on a lawsuit filed by residents of two Des Moines apartment buildings who say their buildings were infested with bedbugs.

The case was certified as a class-action case by a Polk County judge in 2011. The building owners and managers are asking the Supreme Court to throw out the class-action certification. The court says it plans to issue its opinion Friday.

More than 250 residents of Elsie Mason Manor and Liguitti Tower sued in 2010 Johnston-based First Baptist Housing Foundation, which owns the buildings and the building managers, Minnesota-based American Baptist Homes of the Midwest. The lawsuit claims that the building managers knew about the infestation for more than two years but didn't warn tenants or properly treat it until the lawsuit was filed.
