La Crosse music teacher honored with "Encore" award
A La Crosse elementary school teacher is being honored for her performance in the classroom.
Amanda Wolfgram, a music teacher from North Woods International School was surprised to walk into her classroom Friday and see it was crowded with people all waiting for her arrival.
Wolfgram, who has been teaching for 15 years, was awarded with the second annual "Encore" Award.
The award presented by the Ronald McDonald House Charities and The La Crosse Symphony Orchestra is given to music teachers who go above and beyond for their students.
Along with the award, Mrs. Wolfgram also received a $500 grant.
She says it's not the awards that drive her to teach, it's the students that keep her in the classroom. "Every student needs just so many people around them to love on them to support them. I really want to teach them not only to fall in love with music, but how they can engage in music life long," said Wolfgram.
The money will go towards a new sound system for the music department at North Woods.
