Community leaders are continuing their joint effort to make a dent in La Crosse County's rising drug problem.
The Heroin Task Force consists of community leaders, educators, medical experts, and law enforcement.
For the next six months, they'll be meeting and discussing what they see and developing a plan to make a significant impact in the community.
Thursday, they talked about the increase in heroin usage and how a number of addicts started with prescription pills. "Heroin is often times an alternative to those, a cheaper alternative, there's also different forms of using it, so you don't just have to use it intravenously," said task force member Keith Lease.
Tri-State Ambulance also gave a presentation about what they're seeing on a day to day basis.
