Some area kids are learning how to safely bike to school.
Fifth graders at Northern Hills in Onalaska took part in a Bike Rodeo. It was a chance for them to learn how to ride a bike while doing some fun activities and learning about bike safety.
It was put on by an advocacy group called "OnaBike."
A spokesperson says this is the perfect age to start teaching these lessons. "They're gaining independence and their independence on a bike and they're awareness and physical capacity is at the point where, that's where they're ready to start riding on the road and riding properly," said Matthew Christen from OnaBike.
It's "Wheel to School Week" in Onalaska, a challenge to encourage kids to get to school someway other than by car.
