The La Crosse Salvation Army opened a Christmas Boutique at 66 Copeland Avenue in La Crosse on Tuesday.
Sales from items donated from the individuals and businesses in the community help support the Salvation Army’s programs, like its food pantry and warming center.
“Typically what happens is we get all the donations throughout the year into the (thrift) store and then we warehouse them and bring them out for the season,” said Monica Nelson, manager of the Salvation Army Thrift Store and Christmas Boutique. “What we were thinking is we wouldn’t have to clear out quite so much of the store in order to get the seasonal stuff in…this would just be seasonal stuff.”
Nelson said the Christmas Boutique will be run with volunteers and one Salvation Army employee. If you want to volunteer to help at the boutique, as part of its Red Kettle Campaign, or other programs, contact Jeff Hoch, the volunteer coordinator at the Salvation Army: (608) 782-6126.
The Salvation Army is always accepting donations for seasonal items. Those items can be dropped off at the 66 Copeland Christmas Boutique. All other donated items should be dropped off at the Salvation Army Thrift Store, 728 Copeland Ave. in La Crosse.
