Area kids are pledging to stand up against bullying this Halloween.

Children and their families met at Valley View Mall in Onalaska on Sunday for Gundersen Health System's Halloween Spooktacular.

The event uses family activities to raise awareness about bullying prevention.

Kids of all ages could dress up and take part in the fun.

There was live entertainment, photo booths and candy.

This year, the Spooktacular exceeded organizers' expectations.

"Every year it grows and this year it is just thousands out here. So it's definitely the biggest we've ever seen, which makes me very happy and it helps the retailers, it brings additional foot traffic to the mall that might not be here on a typical Sunday afternoon," said Valley View Mall Marketing Director Laurie Cafe.

More than 40 retailers took part in this year's event.
