The Tomah VA is saluting the artistic talents of area veterans.
All week veterans have been singing, reading poetry, and displaying other pieces of art as part of the National Salute Week.
The veterans are competing against each other and others across the state to win national recognition. But everyone there says it's bigger than trying to win first place.
"All soldiers, veterans, they got talent that doesn't get exposed,” said Keith Diamond. He served in the U.S. Army from 1978-1997.
"Not only with the performing and the creative arts, but also with our visual arts, our painting, our woodworking, our metal work, our photography, they are just absolutely wonderful,” said Amanda Luepke, recreation therapist at the Tomah VA. “And it's just a wonderful way to showcase what our veterans can do."
The vets also get to have some other fun this week. Thursday night they had a round of bingo and on Friday they're having a day at the races.
