Vruwink announces she's staying in Assembly
Democratic state Rep. Amy Sue Vruwink, of Milladore, says she will remain in the state Assembly and not accept a job in Republican Gov. Scott Walker's administration.
Vruwink issued a statement Wednesday saying despite "a lot of speculation," she will not be leaving the Legislature to take a job with the state Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection.
Vruwink has been in the Assembly since 2002. She won re-election last year by just 144 votes after Republicans redrew the boundary lines of her central Wisconsin district to make it more GOP-friendly.
Republicans hold a 60-39 majority in the Assembly.
Vruwink says her focus will remain on her district and helping her brother fight pancreatic cancer.
